How to Drop a Hint (So You Get the Right Piece)
Pick the piece, add a note, and let them take the credit. How Send a Hint works by email or text, what to write, and when to send it.

The problem with being surprised is that someone has to guess. The metal, the length, the shape, the size. Send a Hint takes the guessing out, and lets them take the credit.
How it works
- Find the piece you want and tap Send a Hint, on the product page or under any piece in our Send a Hint collection.
- Choose how it goes: Email it or Text it.
- Add their name, and a note in your own words if you like.
- Look at the preview. What you see is what they get.
- Send.
Email it
We send them a card from AVRA with a photo of the piece, its name, the metal, and your note, signed from you. One tap takes them straight to the piece.
Hint emails sometimes land in spam or promotions. If they say they never got it, ask them to look there.
Text it
Your phone's messages app opens with the text already written: your note and a link to the piece, which shows up with its photo. You send it yourself, from your own number. AVRA never texts anyone on your behalf.
What to write
Short beats clever. A few that work:
- “In case you were wondering. 18 inch, yellow gold.”
- “For the next time you don’t know what to get me.”
- “I’ve been looking at this one for weeks. Just saying.”
Put the details in your note: the length, the metal, the ring size. The hint carries the piece; your note carries the rest, so nobody has to guess.
Good to know
Every piece is made to order and ships in 2–5 weeks, so drop the hint early, especially before a birthday or the holidays. Orders placed between November 1 and December 24 can be returned or exchanged through January 15, so a gift bought early is still covered.
And if nobody takes the hint? Every piece is still there. Some are better bought yourself.
