The Monroe by AVRA is not a necklace you put on. It is a necklace you become. A rigid 14K gold torque collar, sleek and architectural, sits at the base of the neck with the quiet authority of a woman who has nothing left to prove. At its center, a bezel-set oval-cut lab-grown diamond catches the light with a softness only the oval can deliver. The Monroe uses a higher grade than most of our line, at E color and VS1 clarity. That is deliberate. When a single stone sits alone at the hollow of your throat with nothing to distract from it, every grade matters. The oval's elongated shape also carries carat weight visually, so a 2ct here reads larger than a 2ct round would.

• This is a torque necklace, not an omega chain. A torque is a single rigid formed collar with an open back that holds its own shape; an omega is a flexible chain of linked flat plates. The Monroe is the former, which is why it sits away from the neckline instead of following it.

• Hook closure at the back, designed to sit flat and flush under a collar or hair.
• The engraved AVRA disc hangs at the clasp, so the piece is finished at the back as carefully as at the front.

The Monroe wants a bare neckline. A strapless dress, a deep V, an open shirt with the top three buttons undone. Because the torque holds its own shape, it sits away from fabric beautifully and never collapses into a neckline the way a chain does.

If you layer, go longer underneath rather than shorter. The Serene on an 18" or 20" chain sits below the collar and creates a deliberate two-tier line. Keep earrings small when you wear it. This is a piece that works best when it is the only thing asking for attention.
